Can't Get Enough of 'em Coloured Cords...

Summer is here and S/S '11 demands that you dress as bright as the weather. A crisp white shirt and pair of colourful trousers are pretty much my favourite summer outfit, particularly as its easy to always end up looking like you're heading for the beach when dressed for the summer weather. I think some people are reluctant to wear a white shirt incase it looks like office wear, but with the right combo of accessories I think it can look cool.

Chino Time!

Well summer is officially here, and while the rest of my kinsmen will be taking this opportunity (22oC) to remove clothes, "taps aff" is the general term when the weather gets this hot in Glasgow. I was just happy to get the chino's on and embrace the summer. Sadly I am a spectator on this good weather, as I am working in my shop until 6.30, however you can't help but feel good when the weather takes a turn for the better.

Taking the Mick?

Always loved the Mickey print stuff, a few summers ago it was done to death, but I think I'm ready to brave it again. I can still remember going to Disney Land as a kid, and it is probably still one of the best holidays I have ever been on. When I saw these shirts I got a few for the shop, but had to keep one for myself....brightens up any day, how can you be annoyed when you have Mickey and Minnie right behind you. While I consciously went for a more summer look with this post you can probably see I had to take the pictures inside, as the Scottish spring consists of mostly rain (not to be confused with the Arab spring, which is something completely different).

Westwood, Tartan Wonderland

Tartan week has just passed in New York and it got me to thinking. I love tartan, a lot of my favourite clothes are made of the fabric, I love how it can clash so well with things and make a really simple outfit stand out. It's certainly becoming a lot more mainstream now with most people happy to wear a pair of tartan breaks, and I think it's pretty much all thanks to Westwood. She has sent the fabric down the runway for decades, which I know is a fairly obvious statement as her whole label was born of the punk movement. The point I am making though is that I love the fact tartan is pretty cool, it's good for Scotland and the UK fashion industry as a whole, and it's pretty far from boring.

So I thought I would do a post with this jacket, a Westwood piece from the 80s.

Block Colours

A little bit of colour blocking...big this season apparently? Although the trend does tend to dictate it be in the colours of rave, not that I am against raving in any of its forms, or the acid-trip colours it tends to come in, quite the opposite actually, but the 1st of April in Scotland still feels a long way from summer, so we will leave that for later in the year.

On a completely different note...I can never put this shirt on without thinking of Patrick Bateman...weird.
